Pete Candelaria

As Urban Grid’s CEO, Peter is responsible for the team’s transition to an Independent Power Producer (IPP) with a focus on delivering value to our customers and stakeholders.
Prior to joining Urban Grid, Peter most recently served as COO for one of the country’s largest solar IPPs. A seasoned energy executive, Peter brings expertise in the energy industry across varied generation technologies with a focus on increasing energy independence, reliability and resiliency.
Peter brings experience across multiple operating environments including large, regulated investor-owned utilities (IOUs) to fast growing startup and early-stage organizations. Peter is relationship-driven and focused on creating long-term value.
In his spare time, Peter enjoys spending time with his family, perfecting his BBQ techniques and supporting local volunteer events.

Saad Shamsi

As COO at Urban Grid, Saad’s focus is project execution to significantly increase our ability to deliver clean power to the grid.
Saad Shamsi began his career as an engineer at Shell’s Motiva Port Arthur Refinery, where he supported operations and maintenance for process units. Eventually, he oversaw the construction and commissioning of the electrical infrastructure for a $12B refinery expansion project.
During his 16-year tenure at Shell, Shamsi has had a large impact on several lines of business, including Silicon Ranch, Savion, and Shell Renewables and Energy Solutions.
Saad holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Houston, as well as an MBA from the University of Texas. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling with his wife, activities with his two children, hitting the gym, and singing karaoke.

Eivind Osterhus

As Urban Grid’s CFO, Eivind’s focus is to ensure optimal financial performance while supporting the business to drive extensive fiscal and sustainable growth.
Prior to joining Urban Grid Eivind spent 20+ years with energy technology company Baker Hughes where he held both Finance and Operations leadership roles across the world and demonstrated a strong ability to lead, change and improve business and financial performance across geographies and product lines.
In his spare time, Eivind works hard on improving his long distance road running capabilities, loves to travel the US and the world with his wife as well as cooking and baking. Even though he grew up in Norway his favorite sport is American Football and he is a huge Houston Texans fan.

Erica Engle

As Chief Commercial Officer, Erica’s focus is on executing Urban Grid’s commercial strategy, driving the company’s transition to and expansion as an Independent Power Producer (IPP). Leading a dynamic team, she oversees functions including Mergers and Acquisition, transaction execution, marketing, regulatory compliance and market operations. 

With over two decades of experience in the energy sector, Erica has held leadership roles in trading and origination at leading energy firms. Prior to joining Urban Grid, she served as Head of Structured Origination at AES Clean Energy, where her contributions were instrumental in positioning the company as a frontrunner in the signing of corporate Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs). 

Erica holds a Bachelor of Science degree from The Max M. Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University. Outside of work, Erica enjoys spending time with her husband and two teenage children, both of whom actively participate in sports and music. 

Matt McCluskey

With a distinguished career spanning wind and solar projects having developed 3.5 gigawatts of operating assets across ERCOT, SPP, MISO, SERC, and across the US, Matt McCluskey brings a wealth of expertise to Urban Grid’s executive team. He is responsible for the teams heading up land acquisition, transmission planning and project development and will lead the Urban Grid’s market expansion to fulfill market demand for renewable energy.
Prior to joining Urban Grid, Matt spent a decade at EDF Renewables developing projects, building a pipeline and ultimately running a business unit for the company. A native Texan, Matt is based in Houston at Urban Grid headquarters.
Matt enjoys spending his free time in the great outdoors with his wife and twin boys and most weekends can be found on the soccer pitch or heading to their next camping adventure.

Randy Sawyer

As General Counsel, Randy is responsible for developing our internal legal function enabling our team to remain nimble and innovative while navigating complex compliance and regulatory requirement.
A passionate clean energy attorney, prior to Urban Grid, Randy spent nearly a decade at EDP Renewables ultimately becoming a senior manager overseeing project finance and tax equity in addition to a broad swath of legal operations and streamlining processes in order to minimize project risk.
When he’s not supporting the decarbonization of the grid through his work, Randy is likely to be on a family hike, traveling or otherwise enjoying the great outdoors with his wife and three children.

Leah Garvey

Since joining Urban Grid in 2014, Leah’s focus has been taking projects from inception to a project completion by working closely with all departments. As part of the UG transition from developer to IPP, Leah is now more focused on the successful project financing of our portfolio to bring projects into operation and operate them long-term.
Leah began her career as a Financial Analyst for Stephens Inc., a full-service investment banking firm, where she performed valuation analyses and financial modeling for M&A and capital raises. She received a B.S. in Financial Management with an Accounting Minor from Clemson University.
When she’s not working, Leah enjoys exploring outside with her two sons and husband and traveling to new places. And of course, she loves cheering on her Clemson Tigers!
