Community Commitment
good neighbors & lasting impact
Our solar and energy storage projects are having a profound effect on America’s transition to clean energy–and we are grateful to the many land owners and supportive local community members who have come to know Urban Grid as good neighbors.
As we aim to have a positive and lasting impact in every community that is home to an Urban Grid project, we are mindful of our responsibility to be stewards of the land and to make a difference for future generations.

At Urban Grid, we are proud to support the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF), the largest environmental organization dedicated solely to saving and protecting the Chesapeake Bay. Urban Grid is thrilled to have served as the Presenting Sponsor of Bands in the Sand in 2023 and 2024 as well as a sponsor of their signature oyster restoration event, DC on the Half Shell in 2024.
For over 55 years, CBF has worked to achieve clean water and a healthy environment across a watershed that is home to nearly 20 million people.
Many of Urban Grid’s solar projects reside in the Chesapeake Bay watershed, the largest estuary in the United States and the third largest in the world.
The watershed spans Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York and Washington, D.C. and helps filter and protect the drinking water of 13.5 million Bay watershed residents through its forests and trees.
With our support, CBF can continue its work to:
- Rebuild reefs throughout the Bay with billions of oysters
- Plant millions of trees in streamside forests
- Send students on learning field trips
